Summary: Yes, they work if you carefully pack your items hence the above average rating. They're not 5-star (excellent) because I don't expect these bags to last forever. I paid $17 for a 5-pack and so far they've held up.

I haven't ripped any bags and so far I've bought two sets of 5-pack varieties (10 bags altogether). I've had one set for 2 years and none of them ripped or leaked air. I've reused the same bags. Just don't over stuff and be careful of ... –J. Lyfrom Amazon.com
25 Apr 2009 Cheap product. Falls apart after a couple of uses. Zip seal is very weak. We have had these space bags for a year. The zipper is cheap and does not seal well, the plastic on the vacuum nozzle comes off readily, and the plastic gets brittle and tears easily. Take it from a year of experience, this brand of vacuum bags has been nothing but bad news. –RJLfrom Amazon.com
23 Apr 2009 DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY!! Space bags SUCK! We'll not really, I mean once you suck the air out with a vacuum, they will leak and not stay air tight. They are also cheaply constructed as they tend to tear near the zipper (cheap seal too!) and around the vacuum attachment. Don't waste your money on this! –Paul Doylefrom Amazon.com
