geez...what a P.O.S...i read all the reviews and mentally ignored the bad ones...bad move...i should have given them more credence...i un-boxed the unit and, since it already had the card and battery installed, hooked it up to the computer to charge...what? no wall charger? what is up with that? how much would that have cost tascam to include? about a dollar? since they buy them by the trainload?...anyway, it charged overnight while i read the manual...the next evening i turned it on...and that...

Tascam DR-1 meets expectations
The digital audio recorder certainly met my expectations for recording rehearsal music, as well as interviews. For me was very user friendly from day-1. Unexpectely works very well recording sounds that come from computer speakers. One does need to be very careful placing/handling the recorder when recording, as the microphones are very sensitive.
