Superior product if you want high quality audio
This is an excellent product. It electronically and physically matches XLR microphones to a consumer camcorder. For those who don't understand this, professional microphones have different electrical characteristics than amateur microphones. That is why if you've ever tried to plug a professional mike into your home camcorder directly by simply using a size adapter you've gotten all kinds of weird noises. The signals have to be electronically matched and that is what this device does.
Great sound but interesting design choice.
The product works as I expected it to with no complaints about the sound quality. I have a new Canon vixia hf100 and I have been able to pipe in a remote mic receiver through one input and a boom mic through the other. The end result is exactly what I wanted with both channels coming in loud and clear leaving me tons of flexibility in the editing room.
