High-Definition Camcorder with 20x Optical Zoom and a 2.8-inch widescreen LCD monitor. Super-range optical image stabilization corrects for a wide range of camera movement and vibration. It has nine custom presets, two custom keys and an SD memory card slot. great if not best HDV for price range. I did my research, and after about two weeks of online forums and reviews I settled on the XH A1 due to its great low-light performance. look for footage tests, comparisons with other non-canon models and siphon through

This camera is probably the best model in its price range. compared to the G1, it's the same, except for a vnc connector panel. aside from that, image quality, on camera controls, preset management, it's all the same. The L lens is just awesome.

Best value in HD video cam What can be said about the very best value in film making gear that's not already been said?

Canon's made the XH-A1 very easy to use for a novice like me and my producer's husband who IS an expert camera person. The quality is super and the camera can do so many things that high end cameras DO.

The Mini-DV media is now becoming a bit dated since everyone seems to be making cameras that feed into chips. Perhaps thats why the unit was a bit cheaper but if you use new cartriges on e... –David D. Johndonfrom Amazon.com

OUTSTANDING PICTURE GREAT CAMERA!! THE PICTURE IS OUTSTANDING!! ONE DISAPPOINTMENT IS THAT THE CAMERA IS NOT EQUIPMENT WITH A "HDMI" CABLE CONNECTION. FOR THE PRICE I WAS SURE THAT IT WOULD HAVE THAT CONNECTION.
BUT OVERALL, I'M VERY HAPPY WITH THE CAMERA. 99% OF MY SHOOTING IS OUTSIDE OF ACTIVE RAILROAD OPERATIONS. FAST MOVING TRAINS, ETC. ASO I SHOOT FIREFIGHTING SCENES FOR MY FIRE DEPT. ONCE AGAIN, OUTSTANDING CAMERA!!
