Stunning lens on my D700 I bought this lens about 2 years ago and have been using it on my D200. It's sharp. It's light. It's a lens that, if I drop it, I'll live. But the comments that it is rather slow in dim light are fair, and I've been saving for the 70-200 2.8 zoom. Rather than replace the lens, though, I fell in love with the D700. That CAMERA is so fast and so good at high ISO's -- crystal clear at 1600 -- it's like the lens just got 4 stops faster! Suddenly, the 5.6 f/stop (at the long end) is the equivalent o... –John H. Nikon 70-300 Lens This is a light weight lens that is easy to use and gives great results. I also have a Nikor 70-300 D that is supposed to be far superior to the G lens (and costs a lot more) but I tested this one against the D and found the difference to be so slight that only the "most high pros" would care.
Considering the weight difference, I know I will use this one most of the time and probably sell my D lens. I was able to take hand held (no tripod) shots at 300mm with only a brace and got perfect res... –Robert S. Davisfrom Amazon.com
