Wide angle lenses

This a lens with a wider angle of view than the standard lens. You use a wide lens so you can get really close to the subject on purpose. This exaggerates the difference between near and far. Objects in the distance get smaller due to the wide angle of the lens, and close objects are larger because you were so close.
