Works surprisingly well to get a real 24mm wide angle from point and shoot
This Nikon product is a must have if you want to have great use of your Nikon P 5000 or P 5100. It is a fair priced item for a good optic of Nikon quality. And it is tiny yet solidly two element job nicely finished in anodized black.You can click a menu item which corrects most of the distortion-which is not all that great even without the correction- you get from any lens adapter. (It takes remembering to turn it off though.).. I rarely need to go this wide,but keep it in the bag since it takes...

The Original Nikon lens is worth youth money
I bought a "parallel" make of the wide-angle lens for my coolpix P5100. I claimed to have very good optics , multi-coated, etc etc. Seemed like a good deal. It "seemed" cheaper too.
However, the image quality left much to be desired, because the images taken with the wide-angle would get qutie blurred at the edges, because the lens was poorly made. AS a result, you get a wide-angled image but you are unable to have clear definition on about 30-40% of the photograph. That's not worth it a...

good piece of equipment for a non-professional
I'm not a professional photographer by any means, and I haven't even read Photography for Dummies. I just want to take some better pictures, and I wanted to get some lenses for my camera so that I can take the ones I want when the opportunity arises. So far, I have been impressed with the camera I have - the Coolpix P5000, and this lens.
