06 May 2009Dropped Dead after 18 monthsI liked this camera (even though interior photos... no flash... were fuzzy) UNTIL it quit working after 18 months. We were on vacation last week visiting distant grand kids followed by a scenic tour. Fortunately, we were able to get some great kid photos, but the next morning it was deader than a doornail. Didn't get ANY pictures of the rest of the family or our later travels.
After reading here about costs of repair after warranty I decided to replace it with ANYTHING that is not Canon....–Ramona Alfrom Amazon.com

27 Apr 2009Not durableNice camera - when it works, which isn't often. Within warranty, it stopped dead and they fixed it - some sensor went bad. Then about 6 months later the lens jammed and it is unusable. So now I will have to spend about $170 to fix a $380 camera for the second time and in the future what happens? Do not know if it is worth it to fix, but knowing what I know now, I would avoid this camera.–tidewater livingfrom Amazon.com
"What it does have is great exposure metering, easy portability, a very good image-stabilized zoom lens, and a 12-megapixel sensor. And for anyone looking to upgrade from previous SD-Series camera, it offers familiar controls and trustworthy performance."
"The DIGIC III processor with Canon's face detection autofocus (which also sets exposure and flash) delivers wonderful images with no work. That -- and the striking good looks of that titanium shell -- are the hallmarks of the ELPH line."
