Sell your Canon 580EXII
This flash is so much easier to navigate than the canon.
It also really works well in Auto for fill flash outdoors. All you do is hit two buttons for Auto, with the canon you have to go into custom functions and scroll thru menus. TTL just does not work with fill flash so Auto is the way to go even though it is old school.
If you use an external battery pack, then you don't need to put batteries in it as you do with Canon.
The Metz has a battery level indicator, wow why didn't Canon ...

Ok, but not better than 580
Makes a nice second flash. Was expecting better ETTL as per some reviews on this product. Doesn't feel as solid as 580. Still have ETTL exposure challenges. Shooting on Canon 1ds mkII. Nice cheaper addition to 580s for remote flash. Seems to pick up the remote better than being the master. Docs could use smaller factor to include in camera bag. English is 3 lang from the front which makes the manual a little big.

Great flash, but a little flimsy
I bought this flash a few weeks ago, so I haven't had the
chance to test it under every single situation. I purchased this
flash to replace my Canon 550Ex, which under-exposed many
of my pictures by about 1 stop or more occasionally.
My first impression of this flash, was that it
was allot smaller, allot lighter and allot flimsier than my
550EX. I am a great fan of 'light' equipment, but for $359 I
expected a much more robust flash.
One of the main reason...
