Is this the 2nd generation or the 3rd generation Mac Pro I placed an order for this particular Mac Pro and then quickly canceled it when I read that it comes with DDR2 memory. According to Apple's website, the Mac Pro now comes with DDR3 memory. So what's going on? Is amazon.com shipping the old 2nd generation mac pro?... –MrXCLNCfrom Amazon.com

Almost perfect pro machine I have to say this Mac Pro is very nice and speedy but there are some CONS to go with the PROS.

Pros:
1. Very fast. 4x faster at video encoding and CS4 with multiple hard drives installed and 8GB of ram compared to iMac line
2. 5 Hard drive bays with RAID support
3. up to 8GB of ram
4. Energy efficient

CONS:
1. GT120 video card is a joke, doesn't work with HDMI sources (with dvi to hdmi cable) and poor windows support in boot camp.

Super Fast and Very Quiet I owned a PowerMac G5 Dual 2.0 Ghz before the video card died. I use two cinema HD monitors and the AGP cards are hard to find for that older model. I am not a super power user so I seldom encode heavy duty video. I am a light user of Aperture and Photoshop. Trying to do light video and photo editing on my G5 was not painfully slow but the computer was showing its age. Typical tasks took a while; I would walk away and sometimes come back an hour later.
