Unused product
Now the title is not totally fair ... the included diagnostics were useful and the peace-of-mind made it a worthwhile purchase. The iMac I covered is (right now) in use today and I never had to call for any service during the 3 years. Apple products, in 95% of the cases, JUST WORK and keep working.

Does "Apple Care"? No, it's a contradiction in terms.
I do love my I-mac Intel, but "Apple Care" is a contradiction in terms. I bought the extended 3 year Apple Care, which has not come in to play yet, as I am under 90 days from purchase. I am an Apple neophyte (many years with Windows, new to Apple), and I tell "Help" that when I call. Bottom line, the first level of Apple help personel seem to know less about the Apple than I do. Without a doubt, the first level of Apple Care specialists are the worst "help desk" I have ever dealt with in decades...

A Must for First Time Apple Owners
I buy Apples because I prefer spending my energy doing my computer thing rather than spending it trying to outsmart the internal workings of a plastic box. On those rare occassions when an Apple malfunctions or does something "outside the box" one phone call to the 800 number has generally resolved it. The time it didn't, I was sent a new DVD burner and over-the phone instructions even I couldn't mess up. AppleCare allows one to call that 800 number for three years. Besides the technical support...
