This thing is garbage. if all you want is to back up your files then go for it. I bought it locally and returned it the next day. Do youself a favor and buy another brand if you want NAS. I went with a Buffalo Linkstation and i love it. Western Digital makes good products but not this one.

Absolute junk
The software was terrible - definitely access it directly using the local IP address on your network. The drive crapped out after about 2 months - the fan is not up to the job and it burned up during a 400 MB backup.

Not a real NAS drive. Its junk
WD calls this a NAS drive. While it does have the ability to attach via ethernet, it cannot be attached to like a real NAS drive. You must install a client software. It is also very slow.| elapsed time: | 31.0ms |
