Just plug and play. You will be able to tell the difference when using 100 or 1000.

Good - when it works
This switch worked perfectly for several months. Now it periodically stops recognizing one or all of the network drives it switches. (Cables have been checked, power quality is good.) When it works, speed is good. I will replace it with a reliable D-Link switch.
