Surprising power
I needed a 48 port gig switch to accompany a already growing network. This fit the price and feature point nicely. I have tied this in with a couple of Cisco 3750 metros and it hums nicely. Vlans, trunks and all features work well. GUI is a bit static - but easy to navigate.
Netgear GS748T switch - points to watch....
One thing to watch out for on these switches - Amazon seems to have stock of several older versions (firmware). Make sure to download and update to 3.03 (current) or you'll be wondering if you even got the right switch.
So far, so good
It's a lot of switch for a small amount of money. Since installing it about a month ago, it's run without a hitch. I have only two hesitations in this purchase: 1) The fans are noisy, so it is best installed in a room somewhere other than where people work. 2) I have had some problems in the past with smaller Netgear switches. They have had a tendency to get zapped during lightning storms (while other manufacturers' switches weren't affected). Netgear will replace them for the cost of shipp...
