Special-purpose, expensive, but wonderful
If you're looking for one of these then you probably have a special purpose in mind, and that's pretty much all it's good for. You can only put 4G in it, and the DDR RAM it takes costs a lot more than DDR2, and it would be even higher-performing if it was a SATA II device. I wish they'd update this thing.
I'm using this as a RAM cache for a particular application (Second Life), which would otherwise want a 1G or so cache on disc. This improves performance a lot, and silences the constant ...

Niche product, but if it's what you need...
Well, let's start with the pros of this item: First, it's a true RAM disk, so random I/O operations and file copies happen spooky fast. And yes, I put my pagefile on it and it sped my system up quite a bit, despite all the millions of back and forth threads on that subject. My system is an old Pentium 900 series dual core but I need it for what it does, and this should add a few more years to it. Would it speed up a brand new Penryn as much? I don't know. Solid Performer: Value Questionable
I decided to look into upgrading my machine a bit. Right now I have a Western Digital Raptor as my primary hard drive. I've noticed my boot times getting longer and longer (XP has been installed on this machine for a few years), so I thought it'd be interesting to benchmark some devices to see what they do to my boot time.
