This product is great! ... If you can keep from getting irritated at the failure rate and keep a backup elsewhere. Boy do I wish I had known about that BEFORE I had bought one.

I have had my segate drive for a little over a year now with minimal problems. Since I use many different computers it has held all my stuff. About 8 months ago it began to malfunction. It began to get abnormally hot, the computer would complain about memory loss (and worse, that it didn't recognise the drive), and it wouldn't shut off... –C. Buchananfrom Amazon.com

Like getting a 'Delayed Write Failed' Error every 5-10 minutes? This was my 1st external drive & was a bit weary since you read so many good & bad reviews for various drives...it goes w/o saying that ALL manufacter brands make the occasional "dud". But after some research, I think there are more Freeagent duds then good ones...
