Burned up my front USB ports I have had three of these Smartdisk drives, a USB160 and two FW/USB320's. The first two failed almost immediately. I sent them back to Verbatim on an RMA. Months later they sent me a replacement 320, which failed immediately and burned out my front USB ports, and also two thumb drives before I realized what was happening. I sent that one back too. I have a letter to Verbatim demanding my money back now. We'll see what happens. I am afraid to plug these drives in to any of my computers. I... –Roger D. Scottfrom Amazon.com

sometimes works ok I had the old smartdisk drives for quite a long time and worked ok.
But since Verbatim acquired Smartdisk, they seem to have replaced the internal harddrives. I noticed it' s Samsung inside while the old ones I believe were something else japanese, like hitachi, etc. I dont know what' s wrong but the Samsung does not seem to be compatible with the USB port because i need to plug in/out several times before the computer can 'see' the drive. Tried on various computers and various USB ports, ... –Nicofrom Amazon.com
