Not best device in its class
I suspect most problems people have with rev drives are caused by Iomega's idiotic decision to pretend to be an optical device. This is obviously going to screw with cd/dvd burning software, and doesn't bode well for backup software that isn't best buddies with Iomega. Aside from this, it reads and writes just as good as any other removable hard disk device. For the exorbitant cost and miniscule space, there are better options....

REV drive not compatible with Vista Disaster Recovery
I attempted to store a backup from Vista Complete PC Backup & Restore on the REV drive and received the error message "Media is not UDF". Storing a Disaster Recovery Image is the reason I purchased the drive. The drive is excellent for straight copying of files, but is not good for use with third party software. I talked to a Tech. support Rep., and he gave me the usual run around, saying if files can be copied to it, the drive is fine. They said I should call Microsoft.

Drive is not compatible with Roxio Easy Media DVD burning software ...
This drive may work correctly for you if you have no DVD/CD burning software on your computer. I had Roxio (Sonic Solutions) Easy Media 8 on my PC, and it made it so that I could not eject nor format a REV disk, nor could I detach the drive without blue-screening (BSOD) my Windows 2003 server. I tried this on 3 separate systems (2 servers, one Windows XP). All Iomega customer support (3 individuals there) would do was to finger point and make me do all the testing (uninstall software, uninstall ...
