Learn About Disk Drives

Devices used to store data from a computer. There are three types of storage devices, internal, external, and removable.

Internal disks include hard disk drives with interfaces of ESDI, Fibre Channel, IDE, IPI, SAS, SATA, SATA II, and SCSI that are plugged into a slot on the motherboard.

External disks include USB/Firewire that are connected to a port on the outside of the computer.

Removable disks include Floppy, Zip, Jaz, and REV that may be connected internally or externally.
