Looking for duplicate drive
As I was looking for another drive like this one I saw that Amazon had the lowest price, so I came for a look. I couldn't believe that others had rated it with one star. I bought the retail version of this HD from newegg about 3 months ago for $90 so I was hoping to find it for ~$80 now. I'm running xp pro sp2 on a pata drive and installed this drive for storing data. It has worked flawlessly and is very quiet. This will give you headache.
I just got this drive @ Fry's today and it really has issues. I have Seagate 300GB SATA right now and I bought this 400GB as replacement. Running Vista Ultimate w/ all updates, it can't be detected. I uninstalled 300GB drive and fresh installed OS on 400GB drive and it worked (took a while though. I tried seagate disk wizard to clone 300GB to 400 GB drive and errors....can't read data on disk 2(SG 400GB SATA). Physically, the st3400633as(400GB) is scorching hot compared to the Seagate 300GB SATA...
