Inexpensive but excellent drive
The drive comes preformated with FAT32. Thus for most people, you should reformat it to NTFS before putting any data on the drive for better performance. Reformatting takes about 2 hours.

Buffalo 500GB DriveStation USB 2.0 External Hard Drive
The Buffalo 500GB DriveStation is an excellent purchase for the price. It is a great asset to any computer set-up, whether it be Mac (OS 9.0 and up) or PC (Windows XP, Windows 2000, Windows Me, Windows 98SE).
This is the 3rd purchase I've made of Buffalo external hard drives and I am an extremely satisfied customer! Their external drives have always worked seamlessly with my interface whether it be my Sony Vaio PC (formatted NFTS or FAT32), my iMac (formatted FAT32 only), my Pioneer Elite...
