Seagate refuses to honor the warranty I bought this drive in May, 2007. It was advertised as having a three year warranty, and I have a PDF copy of the Maxtor spec sheet that confirms this model has a three year warranty.

The drive failed in August, 2008, 15 months after purchase. Seagate, which bought Maxtor back in 2006, refuses to replace the drive or honor the warranty. They wrote "We have seen this before, and I am sorry to say the drive only had a 1-year warranty" -- clearly, the reason they've seen this before is beca... –Michael C Johnsonfrom Amazon.com

cheap and fast I have this on my computer as a second hard drive in IDE mode, may change it to raid mode someday. I wanted to dual boot with Vista 64 and 32 bit, but haven't. Otherwise, it works fine and is as quite as any other hard drive out there. I had a Maxtor HD failed on me before, but this one is going good. –Richfrom Amazon.com

Easy to install Fantastic product. I had to replace my hard drive on my iMac. With the new drive, all is well, and it runs faster than what I had before. Maxtor continues to make reliable products.
