Wd 5-- review Good news: it works and is fast.
bad news: It has NO on/off switch. How do you reconnect it to your system after you disconnect the USB port? Unplug it and plug it in again? –Scottyfrom Amazon.com

Works - but very very slow data transfer I just got this since I filled up my Maxtor External HD that I use for backup. This does work, and it's certainly quite simple to attach (good thing since it comes with basically no documentation, just a sketch of where to plug the cables). But the problem for doing large backups is that it's very very slow. Less than 1GB per HOUR!! Just to be sure I tried the same files to the (several year old) Maxtor, using the same USB port...more than 30 times faster!
