Easy, quiet and well-made
This drive enclosure was very easy to setup, is well made and quiet. The packaging and instructions are excellent. I use it with a 300GB Seagate drive as a backup disk which stays inactive most of the time (but powered all of the time). The enclosure stays relatively cool except during heavy use (even in a cabinet with marginal ventilation). I do not notice any noise from the enclosure itself (although the drive does make some noise while working), but it is not sitting on the desk....

Active Cooling Drive Enclosure
I bought 2 of these. One is hooked to my Charter DVR and it runs fine and seems cool enough. The other is hooked via Esata to my PC and it also runs well and runs cool. I have had aluminun cooled enclosures fail and take out the hard drive when they fail. It may not be an issue with light usage but with exteme video editing I still have not had any problems with these fan cooled units. I intend to by more but right now Amazon is selling them for more than Thermaltake does.

Finally a decent enclosure.
Finally a decent enclosure that is reasonably quiet and has a halfway decent fan. This is my seventh different enclosure I have tried over the years at work and home. This one is by far the best. The fan is actually a decent fan.
