Not a positive review for the MS Wireless Desktop 8000 Since receiving the Microsoft Wireless Entertainment Desktop 8000 product set I have had numerous problems. It started with the installation on my Vista Home Premium 64 HP laptop environment.

When trying to install the USB based charging / USB device VISTA could not find any drivers for it so it has never installed as intended. Not on MS disk either. I finally got an MS agent on the phone (from INDIA) and after numerous conversations, tests and reinstalls he determined that it was a faul... –D. Bowersfrom Amazon.com

Flaky and broke down after 3 months Pros:
very comfortable keys and layout, backlit keys.

Cons:
After first few weeks started having problems with charging the mouse (poor contacts resulting in constant blinking red light), had to position the mouse EXACTLY right on the charging pins.
Left shift key broke after 3 months of use (I do a fair bit of typing but I am not a writer or a coder or anything like that).

Overall I do not think this is a good value for the price. –S_Afrom Amazon.com

Expensive, but worth it This keyboard is a nice size and weight and the adjustable backlight is great when typing in a dim area and you have to look at the keyboard to perform a function or when you want to use the audio/video controls. The Keyboard even has a built in touch pad. It is by no means a replacement for a real mouse or touchpad but it is nice to have so much functionality in one device. Note: the charging station does not need to plug into a computer but offers a USB port replicator if you do. –thatmixguyfrom Amazon.com
