Good Modem
I have used this model modem for years with access control systems and it has always worked great. I am surprised to read so many bad reviews about this modem on here. I have purchased and used at least 6 of them over the years and have not had a problem or issue with any one of them. I would recommend this product to anyone who needs a modem but with high speed internet who uses modems anyways?? Back in the 90s I always used USR modems and they worked great and this modem lives up to that....

Great modem for the price
Just installed this modem (USR5686E) on a Windows 2000 laptop. In less than 5 minutes, I was connected @49.2K, which is very good in my neighborhood where the phone lines are 1950's vintage. I have several of these USRobotics external modems on both Windows and Linux machines and have never had a bit of trouble with them. I'll try it one a Windows XP machine next.
