17 May 2009 Works as expected I bought this to create a wireless link for a weather station. This product pairs with my computer from across the house and allows my to upload my weather data to the PC. Pairing was easy, and the connection seems reliable. All in all, it does exactly what I bought it for. I do wish that it didn't require an AC adapter, but that's probably more of a limitation of the RS232 port than anything else.... –neurobobfrom Amazon.com
14 Jan 2009 Flaky at best I had a heck of a time getting this working and when I did it was flaky at best. Even at 9600 baud, there were intermittent long delays (> 3 seconds) in receving and sending data and occaisonally seemed to lock up completely. This made it unusable for my robotic control application. Out of desparation I bought an IOGEAR USB adapter to pair it to, but that yielded similar poor performance. 10 Dec 2008 This and comparable products fail to meet expectation I concur with another reviewer. This device should be DCE and not DTE. Take a look around at serial devices. They are DTE. So why make a product that will require the use of a clumsy and bulky null-modem cable 95% of the time? In my case 100% of the time.

Also I would have liked to see a fully self contained unit. Meaning no need for an AC cord. Yes, this unit MUST be plugged into an AC outlet to function! The necessity of an AC adapter completely negates IOGEARS claim of "cleans ... –W. Haydenfrom Amazon.com
