Good value, Performs well as I learned from reading Amazon reviews
I read the Amazon reviews before purchasing. I replaced yet another Epson ink jet (this time a 6400 model) because the ink quit flowing right. I've tried those fixit kits with the syringe and the liquid but and had very limited success. So, I decided that I wanted a multifunction laser this time so I could quit buying the ink. The DCP-7040 jumped out at me as the best rated and best value. The Amazon price with free shipping was the best so I ordered it. OMG! it arrived the next day. So ...

Printer/copying works fine; poor quality scanning
This printer works great, prints fast, and makes very little noise. I'm a Mac user and it works fine with my equipment. It also makes good copies. But the scans are inadequate for my needs. I wanted a basic scanner to put old family photos on my blog. This scanner has streaks and doesn't generate smooth gradations of color.
