home theater yes! dont listen to the review that it's not for the home theater,first using the stretch mode 16:9 looks great 1080i looks great from my comcast hd,
also i'm using panasonic 1080p upconvert dvd recorder and my movies look great, buy a dvi-hdmi cable with a hdmi switcher and you'll be fine, good contrast level at 2200-1 ,lums are 2300 at full mode eco mode 1800 very bright, bulb cost is around $250.00 just bought one after a yr of use, i just love mine!!! i hope this was helpful... –d.p.from Amazon.com

Just what you'd hope for I chose this product because it was the cheapest xga resolution front end projector I could find. It's been great. I highly recommend it.

Large plasmas only get a little better picture than this and they're much more expensive and bulky. –theredwillowfrom Amazon.com

The Sharp XR-30X is VERY sharp! [I've been an Ed. Tech. for 37 years] Dang this Sharp XR-30X DLP projector I just bought! I got it for our elementary school's auditorium gatherings because our 3 other projectors are getting rather popular for classroom use lately. So I set it up with a couple of the others...and, well, now I'm gonna have to go buy MORE of 'em 'cause the Sharp makes the rest of our projectors look so OLD! And for $600! I now know why a projector's contrast ratio is a more prominent spec in website stores. ... –James Mathewsfrom Amazon.com
