Scanner is great, software ain't The scanner works as advertisied. I'm scanning 20 years of family photos from various 35MM sources (slides, negatives, simple cameras and SLRs). I bought this model rather than the SE to get the included silverfast software. My advise now and what I did was to scrap the silverfast software and buy vuescan. Much better software package for what I'm doing. Installing the drivers only from the silverfast disk requires some thinking but it's not difficult. Outdated software No custmer service I purchased this scanner in December 2007 expecting that it would include the current release of SilverFast Ai scanning software. When I got the scanner, I found that scanning color negatives was unsatisfactory because of excessive color cast. I went to the Silverfast website to see if the problem was corrected and discovered that the version of Silverfast included in with the scanner had been replaced with a major upgrade in December 2006, a full year before I purchased my scanner.
