Inexpensive and worked fine with Windows XP
For the money it delivered. Not your most robust or bullet-proof product, it does do the job for 11X17" scans. I had no problem with set-up and quickly scanned an old faded road map. It picked the shades caused from sunlight on the map and did a decent job when zooming in on the detail. 
Scanneriffic
Purchased this scanner after careful consideration. Was initially worried that I might have problems connecting to Macintosh platform. Set up really was a breeze and took less than five minutes. I immediately tested the scanner with several full-size 11x17" color originals. Controls were easy to use. Scan time was more than adequate and image quality was sharp enough to handle most circumstances without much fuss. Combined with the price, this scanner makes a great addition to my set-up.

This was the only reasonably priced large format flatbed scanner I could find. It does an excellent job and I'm very happy with the results - comparable to the Canon and HP scanners I previously owned. Aside from the large footprint, the only two downsides to the scanner are: The lid is kept in place by two posts that easily come out, so that I'm frequently trying to reseat it; on the Mac, the only way I can scan is by adding the Adobe TWAIN plugin to PhotoShop CS4 (not recommended by Adobe), wh...
