Don't expect much
My daughter is very much into "experiments"...I can prove that by how many times my wife and I have asked here were the Gold Bond powder is or the shampoo etc.

I decided to get this particular kit after researching all available chemistry kits on Amazon.com because of the descriptions of how many experiments you could do with this particular set.

My main problem with the set is that it's cheesy and cheap looking- which does not match the not so cheap and cheesy price.

Manual could be more user friendly/not for younger kids
When we ordered the Electronic Gadget Lab (which we love, a five star buy IMO), we also ordered the Chem X-1000 to get free shipping. In hindsight, since my daughter is six years old, I'm not sure it was worth it.

If you're looking for some fun chemistry experiments to play with with a younger child, perhaps this isn't your best choice. The manual is a lengthy black-and-white single-spaced book with experiments not well highlighted. It goes into great detail for several pages about ho... –Coloradofrom Amazon.com
