What I Expected
I bought this unit to replace a VCR. I use DVD+RW disc and record at the LP setting which gives me 4 hours. Using the DVD+RW allows me to reuse the disc as a VHS tape, but the quality of recording is much better than a VHS. No tracking to deal with as you do with a tape. The set up was easy. Programming is as easy as a VCR. The reviewer that complained that the unit did not have a hard drive should have looked at the specs. I knew what I was buying (no hard drive). Two bad units in a row
I purchased this unit at Costco to replace an similar, older Panasonic with an analog tuner. The older unit was very reliable. However, the new unit with the digital tuner was buggy - locked up continuously when attempting to scan and program channels....never got to the recording stage. Returned it to Costco and purchased a replacement. The replacement unit has similar behavior, constantly locking up (unplugging the unit temporarily fixes it, but it locks up again after a few functions). T...

prepare to do some sleuthing
I bought this unit from Costco a few weeks ago. Thus far, I am happy with the recording quality, but am still putting it thru its paces. I made one scheduled recording, then the next time I tried it wouldn't work even though I followed the same directions exactly so I called Panasonic help. He told me when I was in the mode button on the scheduled recordings list and after I had entered all the pertinent information, to hit the OK button twice to "lock the program in", then press the Schedule...
