Aleratec DVD/CD Repair
After much homework, I decided to purchase the Aleratec 240131 disk repair kit. As recommeded in the owners manual, I progressively moved from cleaning, to light repair, to heavy repair. Although the DVD I was attempting to repair did not appear to be very scratched, it would not play on several DVD players. Once the disk was repaired using the heavy repair, I found it to play perfectly. I am very pleased with the Aleratec kit.

does nothing
I bought this product and followed the instructions. The product did absolutely nothing to repair any scratch on any disk. The buffer does leave marks on the disks, but this too did not repair any scratch.
Works, for a few disks
I bought this to repair a stack of about 100 CDs most with significant scratches. I get the best results if I run the scrachted CDs several times in the 'buffing' cycle, which essentially sands a thin layer of plastic from the disk. Then once through the 'repair' process where a layer of protective coating is applied to the disk. This has worked for all the CDs I tried it on (4). The problem is the buffing disks are only good for about 15 cycles. which translates into fixing about 4-6 disks. The...
