Sounds like the other reviewer has a broken unit... I've been using Amazon for years, but this is my first review. I just think it's a shame to give this DVD player a 1 star!

I owned the previous generation of this player, which was no good. It was SUPER slow to load, etc. Thankfully, it broke, and the A/V installers replaced it (as it was under warranty) with this model.

I haven't had it for very long, but I love it. It's solid, fast to load discs (for a universal player!), very nice and clean looking, responsive, and the picture ... –IMHOPfrom Amazon.com

Not worth the money, Stay away form this unit Before I purchased the DVD-S2700 I was using the Yamaha DVD-S1500 which I owned for the past 2 years. Anything I burned on my computer played back on the DVD-S1500 without a problem, every disk played back perfectly.

I purchased the DVD-S2700 about 2 weeks ago, to gain the advantage of the HD playback of the unit for my Plasma TV, the first disk I played, the picture quality was very good, and the HD quality was GREAT and the sound was also GREAT, but then the picture started to skip,... –Stanley Skowronskifrom Amazon.com
