Excellent Audio, Video will force you to Compromise
Thumbs up on the Audio Section. The Audissey Setup is Simple and the Dynamic EQ is very Effective for listening well below reference level, which is most of the Time for normal use.

I have this set up as a 7.1 system and the THX Select2 works awesome for content that is 5.1. The receiver sends more than enough power to all 7 channels. All my speakers are rated 100 watts RMS and are a perfect mach for this receiver. The Audussy mic and setup worked well. However, I didn't like the sound w/ the Audussy settings (not enough base). I used the Audessy for speaker distance and level. I used the THX setttings/suggestions for frequency and formats. THX Select2 and THX Cinama sound ...

FIOS subscribers beware
Apparently this Onkyo receiver and perhaps others in the Onkyo line have problems with Verizon's FIOS service when using HDMI cables. I suspect that the problem lies with the Verizon set top box/DVR not the receiver but buyers should be aware of the issue. I am told by Onkyo and Verizon that other cable connections will work but if you want an HDMI set up, you will have to go elsewhere. Trying to resolve the issue with Verizon and Onkyo is just not worth the frustration and I have no confidence ...
