Onkyo TX-SR876 Theater Receiver "The Hot Box"
It's a Great Unit with a lit learning remote. The power and sound it unleashes, I am hearing stuff on CD's and DVD's I haven't heard before. Sure it gets hot, gotta let it breath. I ordered a small super quiet 4" square 110v fan and placed it right on top & plugged it in the ac outlet on the back and every time I turn on the receiver, the fan kicks on as well. And it is not enclosed in some airtight case, it's out in the open.
With the HDMI Pass through feature makes it all the better. I ...

This Receiver is Hot...In every sense.
I've been an Onkyo owner for almost 20 years, and sadly, in a recent move, my original Onkyo receiver from around 1990 got dropped and totally destroyed. Turns out that was good for me, since it gave me the excuse to pick up the 876.
I won't repeat what all the other positive reviewers have said previously other than to summarize: this is an outstanding piece of equipment for audio and video applications at a really great price. That said, as many reviewers have noted, it sure does run ho...

Works great, incredibly flexible
I bought this unit to replace my separate preamp, HDMI switcher and separate amps. This is the first receiver I have ever bought and I have been a Audio enthusiast for 30 years. I have been thoroughly pleased with the power, quality and flexibility of this unit. I have old carver amazing speakers upfront and the ability to bridge was important to me.
