Great Sound, Just Not Close to 5.1 Surround Sound I love these speakers!!! It is a full & rich sound that is way better than the TV speakers. I have pets that would chew wires and can not put them in the walls or under a rug. As such, the sound bar solution was really my only choice (except for an all wireless system). Since I bought a Sony HD TV, I was biased to stay in the Sony family since the Bravia sync kept usage simple (a requirement for low-tech wife & kids). Sound not good...Not good for bigger rooms !! I brought it and connected all via HDMIs. Easy setup. However the sound coming from the soundbar/subwoofer is average at best. I have a bigger room and the sound from this system is same as my 56" Samsung DLP TV.
I also tried connecting sound via optical cable and got the same results. I think this system (as it mentions) is for people with small rooms and set up convenience without having to run wires around.
I plan to return and try Yamaha YAS-70 sound bar system and from what I have rea... –SKfrom Amazon.com

Buy this only if you are looking for tech convenience not for sound I was on lookout for a decent soundbar and not on a big budget. The sony HTCT100 seemed to fit well within my budget. But I was very disappointed on the sound front.

Pros
Looks good
Lots of inputs
HDMI switching capability
Works well with Bravia.

Cons
Not enough /good sound.

Bottomline if you are looking for better sound you will be disappointed.
