much better !!
i bought this to replace an OLD surround system.
i can finally hear "SURROUND SOUND" again.
the sub is a bit large.
it comes shipped in a large box.
ups was unfavorable about hauling it upstairs to my front door.
directions were a bit complicated. the manual explained more.
i had the low voltage guys hook it up.
sounds great !!!
we used different wires.
all in all, a great purchase for the price !!...

Not your typical HTIB
I've only heard the HK home theater in a box systems twice. Both times, I was very impressed. With the deep discounts offered on this system (presently less than $400), for the price of an inexpensive HTIB, you get a receiver, DVD player and truly good speakers and subwoofer which HK sold as separates for a lot more money. (I think it was in the range of $1,000.) Most home theater in the box system skimp somehwere -- either the speakers are cheap or the amplifier is not of the quality you wo...

Great sound, but...
Let me start by saying that this is a great system. I used to work for ALTEC/EVI pro audio, and, for the money, you really can't touch the sound this delivers. The sub, as noted by others, is wonderfully rich and never overpowers the rest of the system. The setup is a little complicated if you're not an audiophile, but it's not that hard, just read the instructions. The onscreen setup is OK, but not very user friendly. My only problem with the system is the DVD player, which "upgrades" the ...
