solid signal capture and audio, great features, lousy manual
I have owned the Grundig Satellit 700, and the more compact Sangean 606 and a Sony ICF SW30. The G4 doesn't have the signal capturing capacity of the Satellit, but it is superior to the Sangean and the Sony, and is outstanding in the FM band. The G4 is feature rich, and best of all, it is all digital (no analog potentiometers to go bad.) But it compresses an impressive array of functionality into very few buttons (in order to keep its footprint small) and this where trouble begins, because the...

Need a doctorate's degree to make it work
I've now wasted over an hour to try and get this thing to work. It looks nice but the manual must have been written by someone who's first language is not English. The directions are clear as mud!

Does not record in MP3 format
I was hoping that it would record radio programs, especially FM Stereo, to MP3 format. It does NOT. This is especially disappointing since it has a very sensitive and selective FM receiver as well as AM medium wave and shortwave reception nearly at the level of the Kaito 1103 in a smaller package. It only records radio to WAV format, lo-fi mono. You can do that with the StorTrek iBeat Extension for $25.00, which has even better FM reception.
