Very Disappointed
I bought these as Motorola makes great radio products, BUT one of these stopped working the second time I went to use it. I have used Midland, Cobra and Uniden radios of this type in the past at a lot cheaper price with no problems.
Works fine, but don't get it for the iVox feature
I shopped around for a reasonably priced set for my kids to play with. I settled on these because of the advertised iVox feature, which supposedly lets you talk hands-free like a cell phone, even though they're more expensive than some other rechargeable models without iVox. Well, it didn't work very well. It appears that the mike only kicks in AFTER you talk, so the first few words are not picked up. And forget about talking at the same time. Nothing will get through.
Immediately impressed
As an owner of many FRS radios, including some commercial grade, I bought these with some apprehension having some not so great experiences with Motorola. The quality of the speaker and microphone was immediately apparent, after a quick test. Most other models I own either have a weak speaker, or the mic gain is turn down so much that you can barely be heard. Not so with these and am very glad I got such a good deal on them.
