Great "front" speakers for surround
I needed new front speakers for my digital 5.1 surround system. These BIC's fill the bill quite nicely. My system includes a subwoofer, so I'm not missing any bass response. But if you use your stereo only for music, you'll want to consider a good equalizer to enhance bass. These are good speakers for a smallish family room, a bedroom, or dorm room. Good value
The Bic DC62si speakers represent very good value. They provide lots of volume with adequate clarity, and they sound quite different, depending on what amplifier I have used. Two amplifiers I no longer connect them to are a Harman-Kardon receiver and an AudioSource Amp 300. I now have them connected to a discontinued Carver THX amplifier rated at 180+ watts per channel, with an old but very good Carver preamp. Old school two channel system with these BICs, terrific sound!
The bass is quite robust, while the highs and mids are crisp. Hooked up to an Onkyo 8222 (with 50 watts each channel), these BICs sound terrific, whether you're listening to rock, instrumentals, or NPR. The speaker build is solid as well, durable enough to survive a cross-country move this past summer. Also of note, when purchased a couple years ago, the price was about one hundred bucks for a pair, which remains unchanged today. A superb buy overall.
