Great speakers for the money.very pleased with them.wonderful sound,very clear and crisp.don't think you need a separate sub. for these speakers.However, I already have a Jbl 300 watt sub.I turn it on low ,it blends in very nicely with the speakers .so far I enjoy the speakers tremendously.you need good amp. to power them so you can enjoy their full potential.You won't go wrong with these speakers.Hope this will help.

Amazing Speaker for the Price
I have had these speakers for a little more than a month and am very satisfied with the quality and sound. Driven by an Onkyo TX906NR they produce amazing clarity and power by themselves and really blend well with my JBL 200 Watt Powered Sub-woofer and the JBL LC2 Center Channel. Sound quality of HD movies from my Dish Network ViP722 nearly rivals that of high quality Blu-ray movies. I don't think I could have found a better front speaker with this kind of sound range for anywhere near the price...
