No, not at all better
I decided to try this product because of its single positive review and low price. I soon learned it was a mistake. The unit requires a 9V battery, which is not included or listed on the packaging (as I recall). Anyway, you're supposed to turn it on, hold the long, flat side against the wall, and move it around to listen for beeps. However, right from the outset it just emits a loud, unending beep, so you have to adjust the sensitivity.... With a small flathead screwdriver. Why they did not just...

Nice little device. I got this to find floor joists, and it works well even through carpet. The "tuning" is a little sensitive, if you don't find any nails/screws the first time you might have to re-adjust the sensitivity and try again. This worked well for my application, and is certainly better than using one of the other stud finders.
