Not as effective as larger model I bought this "compact" model to replace a dimensionally larger 12,000 btu Frigidaire unit 8 years old. Read the reviews and was confident it was as good as the earlier unit and would effectively cool our 650 sq' pool house. The older unit was about 5" wider and would cool down the building within 10-15 minutes. This newer one does not cool as well. Guess that next time I will spend the extra bucks for the larger and more costly 15,000 btu.... –Greg Leroyfrom Amazon.com

Does the job, albeit noisily I bought these over a year ago, and am very happy with them. (I bought 2.)

Installed 1 on the upper floor and 1 on the main, and both do the job admirably well considering they're cooling off a *much* larger area than they're probably supposed to. For most of the summer, the one on the main floor does a fine job solo; for the hotter (above 90) days, both kept the house at least 10 degrees cooler than the outside, if not more than that.
