perfect oval loaf
This is just what I needed. With a little flour sprinkled in the form my sourdough rose beautifully into a lovely country OVAL loaf. It was easy to plop onto my breadstone and the loaf had the authentic concentric circles on the bread.

not as good as I hoped
Basket works well, but I do not like that the bottom of the basket does not have an oval design. I wish this would have been shown in the pictures. The pattern is simply straight lines which I do not find as attractive on the bread. I find that I use this basket more as a basket to serve the bread rather than bake it. I much prefer the round basket for baking.

Made in China, not Austria!
Beware of the description. Product features states: "Handwoven in Austria". The label on the brotform states: "Made in P.R.C.", which is a clever way of writing "The Peoples Republic of China". I'm assuming "Crafted" means stapled, which was done poorly on the one I received. I also purchased the round brotform, resulting in the same review. Shop around, you can probably find a cane basket similar to this for about $5 at your local Pottery Barn or Pier 1 Imports. I agree with the other reviewers...
