wish the great design could have included the motor
I bought this blender after three months of research to replace my old one, a Waring Futura 750 that I got used in 1982 for $10 at a St. Vincent de Paul thrift shop. The Breville's design was drop-dead gorgeous -- more like a sports car than an appliance. I was very happy with my choice.

The Bentley of Blenders!
Wow! I sifted through so many reviews on several blenders, and thank god I found this blender. Although 50% more than I was willing to spend, I couldn't be happier. It truly is quieter! I used to use an Oster Beehive, and my ears would ring for an hour after making my smoothie. I love my Breville, the best part is the blade, there's a specific blade that spins to keep food from settling below the typical blade. A Great Blender, until . . .
Until the rubber gasket just underneath the blade assembly starting to disintegrate. I discovered this while drinking my frozen Frappachino and tasted what could only be described as burning rubber. It tasted like that because that's what it was. When I checked the gasket of blade assembly (top part in the bowl) it smelled like what I had just tasted. Gross!
