The Machine = Badly Engineered; the Caraffe = Overengineered
This fairly expensive machine was bought to replace a 10-cup Braun coffee maker with a thermal carafe, the idea being that the 12-cup Cuisinart carafe would be useful in a household that drinks coffee all day.

Problems ordering replacement
We've had one of these Cuisinart thermal coffee systems for a few years. It finally broke -- the auto turn off feature starting shutting off the brewer every minute and you had to keep turning it back on each minute until the brewing finished. We tried unsucessfully to order a replacement twice. Both times the units came with filter doors that would not latch shut. We finally gave up. We loved our system until it broke, but it seems like the new ones are defective.

The worst coffee maker EVER!!!
This coffee maker continually brews the coffee all over the counter! We have had several instances of the coffee brewing over the top of the filter holder and all over the counter. I have burned myself with the hot coffee, trying to get it to the sink to minimize the mess. We have wasted lots of expensive coffee beans, not to mention paper towels to clean the mess. And YES, CUISINART, WE HAVE DE-DALCIFIED THE SYSTEM. I would NOT reccommend this coffee maker to anyone.
