Automatic shutoff - not!
I purchased this kettle for our office, and quickly found that it does not automatically shut off and stay off after the water is hot, contrary to the product description. Instead, it cycles until it boils dry, or someone notices and manually turns it off. Even the manual turn-off option is dicey, as there is nothing to indicate whether off is "lever up" or "lever down". I would not purchase this kettle again....

Good Inexpensive kettle
I've now owned this kettle for at least 3 years. I use it every day to brew 1.25L of water for our coffee. I don't use a coffee maker - they are not hot enough to brew properly so we use the pour-over method into a stainless carafe. I have had no problems w/it other than a really tiny drip out of the bottom that was easily fixed by tightening the screw. It gets water hot fast & shuts off if it reaches a boil. I would like a kettle w/variable temp. If this one ever dies, I will buy one o...

West Bend Kettle doesn't automatically shut down
Major flaw of this kettle, it should automatically shut down when water boils but doesn't. So quality is poor. Worth spending more on a better brand.
