19 Apr 2009 OK Tea Kettle We needed an electric tea kettle and i went for the one that didn't cost too much and, for the price, this is an OK tea kettle. Wish the cord was longer...It does what you want--it heats water and whistles when the water is ready!! –Kenneth C. Cahillfrom Amazon.com
01 Jan 2009 Plug sparks and is hot My first West Bend tea kettle lasted for years of heavy use and was great. Eventually it gave out and I replaced it with the same model.

I noticed on the replacement the cord was getting warm and soft and the plug prongs would be very hot.

Having just tried the third tea kettle, new out of the box, it also sparks when I pull it out of the socket, is hot with burn marks on the plug prongs. This happened throughout the house trying different outlets for both the newer and the brand n... –Glofrom Amazon.com
